Trail Overview

This route offers a quintessential Northwoods off-roading experience, taking you through a diverse landscape of dense timber and low-lying wetlands. It is a scenic, multi-terrain journey that balances sandy two-tracks with technical, low-momentum water management, making it an excellent scout for those looking to document a rig's versatility. The trail features a shifting mix of loose, fine sand and heavy, silty mud. The transition from the dry, sandy ridges into the moisture-retaining basins is often abrupt and requires constant attention to tire placement. A defining feature of this route is the presence of elongated silt pools. These "soup holes" can be deceptively deep and feature soft, rutted bottoms that demand consistent momentum and a capable 4WD system.

Difficulty

While mostly flat, the challenge lies in the soft soil and narrow clearances. Encroaching brush and leaning pines mean that full-sized rigs will need to be mindful of their paint and mirrors. Mud holes with soft bottoms can be very deceiving; stick testing is highly recommended, especially after heavy rains or snow melt.
