Federal Forest Service Road 3366, also known as Avery, is a federally owned, Level-2/ Level-3 forest road with a surface composition of dirt, sand, gravel, and native material. This route is currently open and in fair condition; it is not a DNR road (ORV use subject to local government regulations) and connects FS 3047 to FS 3018, FS 2605, FS 3041, South Ranger Road, FS 3578, FS 3579, FS 3369, FS 3681, and FS 3153. History
Raco, Michigan, near Avery Lake, originated in 1887 as a logging town named for the Richardson and Avery Company. It became significant in 1933 as the site of Camp Raco, Michigan's first Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp. During WWII, the area served as a POW camp for 267 German prisoners and an airstrip.
