Ran south to north in a lifted AWD Sienna (3.5” JOR lift, Falken Wildpeaks). Entered at the Washington/Appalachian Branch trailhead and followed Whitney Place to New Lenox Rd. Attempted to branch into Ashley Lake Rd but backed down—terrain there needs true 4WD crawl. The main trail was sketchy in several spots with deep holes, off-camber ruts, and scattered boulders. Drove the whole route in “2 low” AWD, letting it crawl through. The climb to Sandwash Reservoir was the toughest stretch with big embedded rocks and deep washouts, continuing for about a quarter mile past the reservoir. After the two switchbacks it leveled out—still rough, rutted, and bumpy but straightforward. Saw no other 4WD rigs all day, just dirt bikes giving double takes. Trail is doable for high-clearance AWDs with aggressive tires and patience, but not suited for stock crossovers or casual drivers.

First time by the area and decided to check out this trail, pretty fun little trail, with some mud holes (bit dry at moment) but regardless had a good time!

Only saw a dirt bike and a couple walking. Trail was clear and surprisingly not muddy after a thunderstorm the previous night

Couldn't get to the south entrance. The road leading to it was gated off. But you can enter from the north. Snowed about an inch this morning. Trail had a few inches on it already and ice underneath in spots. Heading down to the lake was a breeze and enjoyable in a bone stock 4th gen Tacoma off road. South of the lake got a little sketchy for me being in a brand new truck. You could tell not too many have been continuing down that far. So I didn't go too much farther before turning around, especially knowing the south entrance was closed anyway. But I'm sure I would have made it down just fine in my truck. If you drive something better or have better tires, I'm sure you'll have no issues.

Mid, ice and snow. Nothing made me question my sanity. A few ice/mud holes. A few spots allowed us to pick up the pace and enjoy a good clip. The snowy atmospheres provided some really lovely scenery along the way.

Pretty rocky, mostly just small jaggedy guys. Couple mud puddles to rip through, not bad in a stock 2000 tacoma. Saw someone coming up in like a ford escort wagon thing, so doable!

Air down for comfort. Some areas very rocky. Stock Tacoma and Ram 1500 made through easily.

More dry than wet, but one or two of the lil' mud holes had slight depth to them. Tread lightly if you're running stock. I prefer to air-down to 20psi on my MT Baja Boss. Makes for a much smoother ride through the cobble sections. Was a fun ride.

Some sections are super easy and definitely rated 1 where as other parts are lean more towards 2/3
