Starting directly behind the Waterville Home Depot, this 2.4-mile route winds through the scenic Quarry Road Recreation Area, tracking alongside the Kennebec River and passing near the Devil's Chair rock formation. Drivers will navigate a mix of dirt and rocky terrain, requiring a high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle or capable ATV to comfortably manage the elevation changes and rocky sections.
With a technical rating of 3, the route is accessible to most stock SUVs with decent clearance, though drivers should watch for muddy spots during the spring thaw and wet seasons. After crossing Fish Brook, the trail terminates at the "four corners" intersection of Route 23, County Road, and Gagnon Road, providing a gateway to the Messalonskee Trails or direct road access further into Somerset County.
Access Description
The trail passes through the Quarry Road Recreation Area where low speeds must be strictly maintained.
