Trail Overview

Moosehead Lake trail a smooth and relaxing ride with great scenery, picnic areas. Places to stop and fish or spot some of Maine's awesome wildlife. Can be very dusty on dry days but putting that aside, the roughly 6 and a half hours of pure backwoods, marshes and the great people you can meet while taking a break reminds you just what all of us enjoy doing. Getting out and exploring.

Difficulty

Not a difficult trail, very relaxing. The only concern would be to always carry extra water/food and fuel

History

This trail used to be an old railroad bed that was founded in 1884 that was later abandoned in around the 1920 to 1930s. All the information can be found in the Moosehead Historical Society if you would like to learn more about how it met with the incoming Canadian Pacific railway lines from Montreal
