Trail Overview

Long Creek Road takes you through the Long Creek Waterfowl Refuge. It is an easy gravel drive that will connect to Jenny Ridge Road if coming from Highway 68. The refuge has been around since 1989 and it is closed to the public from November 1st to March 15th for migration season.

History

The refuge was developed in 1989 by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, U.S Fish and Wildlife Services, and the TVA as part of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan.

Looks like some folks have been driving around the large downed tree, but there are low hanging limbs you would have to scrape through. This was too big for my little chainsaw it’s going to probably require a few guys, bigger saws, and maybe winches to move the logs
