Trail Overview

This trail presents a rinse through a creek and a climb to the top of an old strip mine. It travels the top of a ridge that consists of Heavily rutted roads, deep mud pits, and many felled trees from high winds through the area. This is the second hard section of the 1000+ mile loop of the Kentucky Adventure Trail.

Difficulty

There are many, many tight turn radius obstacles through trees that have been somewhat cleared. There are also many areas with ruts that can sink over vehicle headlights. Watch for loose gravel. Skid plates, rock rails, and a winch are a must for this trail. You cruise along thinking things aren't that bad, but the last hour and a half of this trail are spent over the last couple of miles navigating through deep mud and tight trees.

If you want to go Mudding, this is the trail for you. The majority of the trail is non-stop mud puddles most of which are heavily rutted. I would not attempt this with anything less than 33” tire height and mud experience. Bring your mud stick for measuring depending on if there has been recent rains (it was this week). Some are hard bottomed and some soft.

We went east to west. Newer jeep rubicon with 37s mud terrains 3" lift no issues. Lots of mud holes with some bypassing. Couple hill climbs

The entrance was nice the first 5 min into it was beautiful, it’s tight and you may scrape branches then you come into a bottom that you will need a winch to get out of the holes filled with water and mud bottom no room to turn around until you pass the mud holes. Prepare for a long day if you attempt this trail and be able to self rescue.

Trail starts off easy but towards the middle of the trail is where the big mud holes are. Might have been able to go around some of the harder mud holes but tried my luck. 33 inch tires and e-locker in the rear were no match for these holes. Got stuck twice.
