Beginning at an elevation of approximately 6,097 feet, the route winds around the base of Timbered Dome—an iconic peak rising to 8,327 feet as the southeasternmost named peak in the range. The dirt trail gradually climbs to a peak elevation of 7,306 feet, showing off expansive views of the rugged mountain landscapes before descending into Hammond Spring Creek Canyon. This route features mild terrain with a technical rating of 2, making it highly accessible during dry seasons. The trail follows Hammond Spring Creek, where riders are treated to vibrant displays of seasonal foliage, from lush spring wildflowers and budding trees to rich autumn colors. Early spring travel can bring muddy and snowy conditions that increase the difficulty, but the path is typically dry and straightforward as the season progresses. The route includes a short spur trail to explore before leading down to a dead-end at a private property gate, requiring a turnaround to retrace the beautiful canyon route back to the start.
