Trail Overview
Squirrel Hollow #3358 is a 3.5-mile-long ATV trail that begins off Highway 36 via Squirrel Hollow Road #30467, where the route transitions from road to trail after about a mile. The entrance is unsigned, and the early portion follows a wide dirt path with shallow ruts, a few root bands, and occasional embedded rocks. As the trail progresses, it becomes rockier with taller embedded rocks and a couple of small rock gardens, particularly through the middle section. The route includes some shelfy stretches as it traverses a hillside and mixes forested areas with more open hillsides offering scenic views. After a semi-steep ascent in the first half of the trail, the second half features a descent of similar grade, and while most downed trees have been cut, a few uncut logs could obstruct the trail if not cleared. After 2.9 miles, the trail turns east to connect to #3559. That last bit of trail is flat with stretches of embedded rock, root bands, and loose rock collected in shallow ruts along one side. It goes through a grassy field where cattle may be present and ends with a 50-inch pinch point through a fence before reaching Road #30951. Though generally easy in difficulty, the couple of rocky sections and presence of downed logs add to the complexity.
Difficulty
This is an moderately easy trail due to a mix of mellow terrain and rockier, steeper sections. Embedded rock, shelfy stretches, and the occasional downed log create modest challenges along the route.
