Trail Overview

Rocky Peak Trail is a 1.9-mile moderately easy ATV route in the Salmon National Forest, gaining roughly 1,330 feet of elevation from north to south. The trail starts off FS Road 60105, but the entrance is faint and unmarked, cutting through sagebrush fields and grassy patches that bloom with wildflowers in the summer. Although mostly hard-packed dirt, the trail has a lot of rocky patches, with a mix of big embedded rocks and loose sections. The final stretch is the most challenging part, featuring a steep climb over loose rock that leads to a scenic grassy saddle with incredible views of Rocky Peak. This trail has to be ridden as an out-and-back, but is near the Timber Creek Campground and dispersed camping along FS Road 60172, so can easily be added to the start or end of your ride through this trail system for some extra mileage and scenic views.
