Trail Overview

Traverse one of the prettiest passes that connects the South Fork of the Boise River to the Middle Fork of the Boise River. Take in the beauty of the high elevation meadows, spot wildlife, even pass through an old Ghost town. Popular with hunters in the fall, Phifer Creek Pass offers many views, access to several spurs, and of course access to the Middle Fork.

Difficulty

Narrow road at times, with blind corners, steep inclines, protruding rocks, and deadfall. The road is usually graded every spring before Memorial Day Weekend, however, do not always count on it being graded. The road may be impassible before it is graded due to tree deadfall and snow drifts, please plan ahead and check conditions accordingly. Running water on road is possible with melting snowfall, and medium-sized rocks do protrude up from the road surface.
