Trail Overview
This route will take you on a lesser traveled single-track trail that is very easy, besides the crossing of Bear Creek to a very difficult and technical single-track. The first mile and a half is very green and lush as you follow and even ride in Muddy Creek. You will get wet on this ride, so plan accordingly. After you turn onto Where Stuff Gets Real, the trail switches up the mountain across large rock and root obstacles to Big Elk Mountain. This is one of the hardest lengths of single track in the Caribou Rangem, so be forewarned. However, it's very rewarding with amazing sweeping views of Palisades and the Sheep Creek area across the reservoir. Cell service is available once on Where Stuff Gets Real. It is highly discouraged to cross Bear Creek to start this ride unless it is July since it is very easy to swamp a bike as the runoff is very high. The upper portion of Where Stuff Gets Real also has lots of snow before the beginning of July so plan accordingly.
