Trail Overview

This 18.2-mile out-and-back trail takes you to a scenic overlook of Hardtrigger Creek in the Owyhee Mountain Range. The trail starts at the Wilson Creek Trailhead and parallels the Northwest Passage Hiking Trail. At approx. 4 miles you enter Stewarts Gulch and begin the climb up a canyon paralleling Hardtrigger Creek. You will take the trail to the left at 6.4 miles and follow up the canyon along Little Hardtrigger Creek. The final steep climb is at 8.2 miles up a ridge line to the turnaround point. very dry, hot, but beautiful canyons. Nice ridge road toward the end. lots of wild horses. some off camber, rocky spots. Easy for most 4x4s.

Would definitely recommend high clearance and lockers. some muddy sections, some steep climbs, loose rocks and a creek crossing within the first 3-4 miles.
