Fern Falls

This was the first time exploring the CDA river area. After getting off I-90, you drive a long paved road along the CDA river (very scenic). Eventually you will turn off on a dirt road that climbs quickly. The first mile or two are very rutted from bad weather wash-outs. The worst rut was almost 1-2ft deep. You must straddle it or pick a line to the far left or right of the road. I was able to drive these sections in my stock toyota tacoma 4x4. Some of the ruts did flex out the suspension quite a bit. Just take things slow, not an issue. Farther down the trail, the road will become rocky with lots of jagged places. Again, I had to take it slow and pick good lines (tires were not the best for rocks). I never had an issue with ground clearance. Fern falls trailhead is at the end of a road with a larger parking area. No one was around, very peaceful. It appears the old walking bridge for the trail is cut into pieces and placed at the edge of the parking lot. I would come back again to explore more.
