Trail Overview

The Deer Creek Trail - FS 277 is available to high-clearance 4X4 vehicles. There are no seasonal restrictions on travel on this trail. The Deer Creek Trail is key to travel in this area because it leads directly to the ATV trail #94 and indirectly to the Van Dorn Canyon and Sands Canyon ATV trails. The trail is a single-lane trail and has deeply incised rutting in multiple sections of the tread. Very high clearance vehicles are desirable on this trail. The trail parallels Deer Creek, and there are a couple of easy water crossings.

Difficulty

The incised ruts on this trail can be problematic for narrower ATVs and SXS vehicles. These vehicles will have to ride the edge of the tread to avoid possible high-centering. This is an acquired skill and is the reason for the difficulty level of 4.
