Trail Overview

Bass Creek (FS 7061) is a very demanding 5.2-mile route in the Sawtooth National Forest, roughly an hour north of Ketchum, Idaho. It begins at a saddle below Ross Peak and heads south to the Bear Creek Jeep Trail. The trail immediately climbs about 400 feet in a short, brutal push before dropping roughly 2,700 feet to the south end. The surface is extremely rocky, shifting between packed dirt, loose gravel, and large embedded stones. The south half contains the most consequential riding: big rock obstacles, significant exposure, and tight switchbacks that are difficult in either direction. The line also deviates from the mapped route in several places, and the entrance at FS 7828 can be easy to miss due to the surrounding rock field.
