Trail Overview

Single Track Trail #402 is in the Danskin mountain range of the Boise National Forest. It's a short trail connecting single tracks #400 and #310. The northeast end starts with a creek section in very overgrown bushes and trees that is about 50 ft long. It really starts in the thick of it! Then the trail starts climbing up the rolling hillsides the entire rest of the way. The trail is a series of really steep sections with flatter sections in between each steep section where it mellows out for a minute before the next hill climb. It climbs almost 1,300 feet in 1.3 miles. There's some embedded rock on the surface of the trail on the steep spots, and sometimes it has several lines to choose from because it's been rutted out. The trail gets a bit more troughed out at the top. It ends at an unmarked intersection with #310. The whole trail is through a wide open hilly landscape, with expansive views of this mountain range since there are hardly any trees. This trail is very similar to the many other ridge line trails in this trail system, which are all fun with a bit of a challenge from the steep spots, and go through a very scenic landscape.
