Union Hill Church - FS 1040

Union Hill Church (FS 1040) is an out-and-back trail that dead-ends into private property. The trail is single-lane wide with places to pass, but be mindful of logging trucks as they move fast and leave little room for error. The trail surface is mostly gravel that turns to mostly red Georgia clay nearer the southeastern end. When the trail ends at the private property, it seems to continue on past the gate. However, what appears to be a continuation is actually a firebreak and so is not legal for motorized vehicle travel. Also, there is a connecting trail named Union Hill Church Road, but it is not the same as this trail, even though the name is similar. As a Forestry Road, motorized travel is limited to highway-licensed vehicles. The trail does run through several sections of private property, so check the map and make sure to stay on the trail.
