Trail Overview

This trail is on National Forest land. A hunting/fishing license or land pass is required to enter. Expect beautiful wooden views during spring and summer. The trail is half gravel and half dirt; rain will create a few washout ruts and some mud sections. There's a deep water pit with a mud bottom located at the end of the trail.

This is a logging Forest so the roads are wide and lumpy. Weather's been great last week so dry conditions. Very dusty and sandy didn't need 4x4 till I went off on a side trail and that was just for peace of mind. Don't have photos and can't post videos. Smooth fun beginners ride, some trails were gated closed but we still did 15 miles on what was open and didn't do them all.

Dry. Only one muddy spot right at the end. Did the whole trail in 2WD.

First half well maintained roadway. Trial starts to narrow up by cemetery. Go straight takes you up by the loggers hang a left takes you deeper on the WMA to narrow trails and a mud hole. You will get pin strips on your vehicle and you need a high clearance ride. I didn’t have to engage 4wheel drive.

Note others' comments about Iron Stab generally. Narrows to single vehicle wide about two thirds in when entering forested area; some ability to pull over to let oncoming vehicle pass. It's a wildlife management area with some active logging, so is sometimes closed at different seasons. Main trail just ends, so don't think you are going to come out the other side of the forest; one way in, one way out from the Braswell gate. Bring your GA hunting, fishing or land use license - the warden will check -- and also tell you to take it slower on the trail ;). Nice place to take kids or grandkids for a taste of bumpy rides, but don't expect any challenges other than mud holes if it's been raining steady for a few days. Enjoy!

First half is basically 2 lane dirt road. Second half is when you actually need 4hi and some clearance. Big gravel rocks have piled up in the middle of some of the trails so watch your clearance. I would worry if it had been raining lately with some sections getting very muddy. Lots of offshoots to explore which we didn’t do this time. We’ll be back. Fun time.

main gate was open, lots of logging going on so main road and some off shoots were pretty flat dirt road. main trail was gated halfway up, but there is an off shoot to the right of it that was fun to run down. very dusty.

Second half of the trail when the gravel road ends is super wet/muddy from all the rain. Went in a 99 Cherokee, no lockers, 4.56 gears, 33inch mud tires and was able to make it through without issue. Used 4h through most of it but wouldn’t do it in a stock jeep.
