Trail Overview
This out-and-back, one-lane forest trail is easygoing and welcoming, with plenty of space to pass other vehicles and minimal risk of pinstripes. The route is mostly flat, made up of smooth dirt with occasional patches of gravel, and gently winds its way to a closed gate at the end. Two-thirds of the way through, stay right at the fork; to the left is another trail with a small campsite at the beginning. The real reward awaits at the end-just before the gate, there's a picturesque creek flowing beneath a small bridge, with a shallow swimming spot that’s perfect for dogs to cool off. Nearby is the first of two campsites—a spacious clearing large enough for multiple vehicles, complete with two fire pits and plenty of room to spread out. Tucked a bit farther back to the right, through the trees, is a second campsite within easy walking distance. This more secluded spot features its own fire pit and sits right alongside the rushing creek, offering a peaceful, shaded setting and the soothing sound of moving water. According to the MVUM, this is seasonally open from 3/15 to 1/16 (closed January 17 to March 14).
