S86 is a moderately difficult trail featuring deep sugar sand, pronounced ruts, and a seasonal water crossing. The sand can be soft and demanding, requiring momentum. Sandy ruts throughout the trail call for careful tire placement and adequate ground clearance. The water crossing is usually manageable when dry, but can exceed 3 feet after heavy rain. Some sections are narrow with overhanging brush, making pinstriping likely—especially for vehicles with painted tops. High-clearance 4WD recommended. Best suited for drivers comfortable with sand and variable conditions.
