Trail Overview
Road 1 serves as one of the primary interior routes through Dinner Island Ranch WMA, providing access to expansive grasslands, wetlands, and remote sections of the management area. The route is generally straightforward but can become significantly more challenging after heavy rains.
Expect a mixture of graded dirt, sand, shallow ruts, and seasonal mud. Water levels can fluctuate dramatically throughout the year, making trail conditions highly dependent on recent weather. Drivers should always evaluate water crossings before proceeding.
Road 1 offers a peaceful backcountry experience with excellent opportunities for photography, wildlife observation, and enjoying Florida's natural landscape. Respect wildlife and remain on designated roads at all times to help preserve this important habitat.
Difficulty
Road 1 at the time of this review, was overgrown with grass in most of the section. It is a short trail leading to the back side of the WMA. There are some sections with sugar sand and ruts that during the wet season could fill with water and mud.
