Trail Overview
The Rattlesnake Camp Road is one of the few dirt roads in the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area. The trail starts at US Highway 19 at the main entrance and gives you access to the two main trails and a picnic area at the end of the trail. The trail is a sand forestry road with some soft sand spots that can turn into mud holes after heavy rain. The road is always wide enough for two vehicles to pass. All vehicles must be street legal. The Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area offers a variety of activities, including hunting, hiking, biking, and bird and wildlife watching. Two caves are accessible for experienced and licensed scuba divers. A daily-use or recreational permit is required to enter the WMA.
Difficulty
This is an easy, non-technical trail suitable for most vehicles; however, the difficulty may increase after heavy rain.
History
