Good trail for a slow drive

Entered trail from North and when I got to within a half mile of the southern end there were closure pylons blocking continuation with a Government notice of temporary closure because of the government closure shutdown. Had to turn around and exit back at northern end. Also be advised this is not a free trail when I guess it’s again opened. There is a $10 per vehicle fee apparently levied by the National Park ranger office. Nothing really exciting to see here nor is it challenging in any way. But if you like driving along the lagoon shore it’s okay.

Clear day but really hot.

Wonderful place, even 2wd seems fine if no rain, I saw sedans just doing fine, other tracks close to round the adventure day also!

Start on the north end and you won’t have to pay the fee for the beach, but there is a $10 fee at the north end kiosk. Was well worth it. Saw lots of pelicans and a few hawks. Didn’t see any alligators. Beautiful easy trail., smooth well maintained gravel road.. Highly recommended. Saw maybe 4 other vehicles.

Early Evening. low tide so lots of coastal birds. we seen a momma Dauphin and her calf. and a big 10 foot gator. we drive here often and this is one of our favorite trails.
