South Road

This scenic trail travels through BLM land with views of dramatic rock formations and surrounding mountain ranges. The trail consists mostly of fine dirt with 6–8-inch ruts and washouts, which can become difficult when wet. At 0.9 miles, a level campsite fits 4–5 vehicles and offers great views and a fire ring; at 4 miles, a 12-inch rock ledge adds a moderate obstacle, and farther along, brush and trees create some pinstriping potential. The trail passes through private property at 2 miles via a public right-of-way and continues through increasingly scenic terrain. 4WD or AWD may be helpful in wet conditions.
