Trail Overview
North Gulch is a really fun and scenic alpine single track in the Gunnison National Forest near Sargents, Colorado. The north end departs from the Middle Barrett Creek trail, starting at 10,300 elevation in the pine and aspen trees, and steeply descends down the backside of the mountain. The descent has lots of loose little rocks, wood debris, small ruts, and gradual switchbacks. It pops out into a beautiful meadow and rides along the edge of the trees on an easy and smooth narrow trail. Watch out for downfall at head height that you will have to duck for. It's pretty easy for the rest of the way south, just riding with tight turns between the trees, mostly fast and flowy. It gets a bit rocky again on the south end, with small loose rocks in the trail, and steeply descending down a washed-out hillside, which is one of the harder parts of the trail. The south end ends when it turns into a road.
