Trail Overview

Starting from County Road 79 (Spruce Dr), the trail meanders through the forest. There are many spur trails and interconnected trail systems that could make it easy to become disoriented, especially once you get into the Rainbow Falls Off-Road area. Missouri Gulch is a fairly easy trail with a few great spots for viewing Pikes Peak and other surrounding mountain ranges. The trail is open year-round for all off-road vehicles including ATVs and motorcycles, however, the trailhead as described here has very limited parking. If using a non-street legal vehicle, it is recommended to park at the rainbow falls riding area and make this an out-and-back trip. During the weekends, the entire area is very popular, so be aware of other riders and vehicles. The route has multiple areas to stop for a lunch or to set up a dispersed campsite. Missouri Gulch can be driven as a loop when integrating other trails, as a point-to-point from Spruce Drive to Highway 67, or as a portion of a connection to Rampart Range Road and all the trails connected to it. Some of the Spur trails and interconnected trails can be very difficult. Parts of the trail cross through and border private property, please stay on the trail.

Mine and my girlfriends first time going off roading! This trail I feel was great for being a beginner, not too many crazy areas that I was nervous about having not gone out before. some areas felt a little tight being in a full size truck
