Trail Overview

Road starts out traveling up the valley of Elk Creek as paved road for 6.5 miles, at that point it turns into Forest Road 603/aka Cinetop Road and is gravel road. At this point road winds up thru Oak Brush, Aspen groves, and Pine Forest up a lot of switch back turns and ends up on the top of the flat top mtns. Once on top here are some great views of a canyon to your right and the valley below to the south back towards the start of the road.

Couple rutted out spots that have dried. Nothing serious. Beautiful views on the way up and down. Wide open meadow ringed by Aspen and pine at the top. Took the dogs on a walk to find what was marked as "Buttermilk Spring" on the map but couldn't find any water source. Might be because it was a pretty dry winter. Some good side roads to camp off of. Bring plenty of water. Area seems to be setup for cattle grazing but I didn't see any fresh patties.
