Trail Overview

Hornet Trail is a 3.8-mile long trail in the Uncompahgre National Forest that has a little bit of everything to make it an awesome ride. It has fast and easy sections, more challenging sections with lots of roots and rocks, and incredible scenery through a beautiful forest of aspen trees and pines. It has a couple more challenging rock gardens with loose, chunky, round rocks in the trail. It's fast, but has lots of tight turns, with berms to bank off of. The east half of the trail is rockier than the west half, which is more smooth. The trail is also mostly flat, with not very much elevation gain in either direction. Hornet Trail is seasonally open to dirt bikes from July 1 through Labor Day.

4 spots of recent blow downs from high wind weekend. We cleared the trees to three of the spots left the upper downed log as it was on the ground and easy to ride over. Admittedly we were exhausted from cutting trees with a small hand saw late into the evening. Hopefully no further trees are coming down any time soon. Enjoy the trail.
