Trail Overview
This single track starts from the Benino ATV trail and ends on Baughman Cr Road. The east entrance starts off easy in grassy meadows along Groundhog Creek, with a rocky creek crossing right away. It starts to have more embedded rock in the trees, and some muddy rutted sections with water running down the trail. You have to go up the face of big embedded boulders, and also big square boulders jutting out from the ground that you have to ride up and over. There are several more shallow muddy stream crossings, often with embedded rocks. It gradually climbs up several hundred feet elevation over 4 miles, with several smaller steep climbs with lots of loose and embedded rock surfaces. It rides right next to the creek at times as it keeps climbing up. The west end of the trail pops out in a big meadow that is a great dispersed campsite. At the west end, you can continue onto the ATV segment of 795 to go north or take the road to connect to the difficult Cathedral trail to head south.
