Deadman FSR 427

A simple trail that connects more trails on Kenosha Pass with Jefferson Lake and the famous 1776 Colorado Trail (Hiking). The first 3/4 mile follows private land with no dispersed camping. After the private land section, the trail goes into National Forrest with plenty of dispersed camping in open fields, tree groves, and along the stream. Trailers or RVs can easily navigate the trail until the water crossing, do not attempt in an RV-style setup, there's no place to turn around later and the trail becomes more difficult with steeper inclines and rocks. Water crossing may be over 18 inches during springtime, and in the fall around 8 inches. After the water crossing the trail goes up the hill getting slightly more difficult. Some portions may be difficult and will require 4wd with good ground clearance. The 1776 Colorado Trail (Hiking) runs directly through the trail allowing for easy access to great hiking if camping. The trail ends at a forest closure sign. You can exit the same path inward or continue on through another trail. Seasonal Closure from 1 Jan - 15 May.
