Trail Overview

County Road 10 is a short narrow trail from the end of City Road 110 and the Sunnyside Mine ruins to Hurricane Pass/Corkscrew Gulch. It is an alternate way to get to the Alpine Loop over County Rd 3 which leads to Animas Forks and Engineer Pass. The trail is narrow in places which may make it difficult to pass an oncoming off-roader so take note of places for passing as you traverse, otherwise, it's easygoing.

The section of road at the south end intersection with 110 is more a 3 than a 2. It looks like it has been roughly graded with a bulldozer. After about a half mile it levels out and is an easy narrow dirt road drive.

Deep snow about a half mile before you can reach CR11.

This trail starts off easy but gets harder the further you get. The current rating of a 2/10 is a bit misleading especially if you plan on going to the top or past hurricane pass.

Clear and dry. Not much traffic for a weekend.

Of all our trail runs today (California Pass/Gulch, Hurricane Pass, Picayne/Placer Gulch) this stretch was by far the easiest. Any decent 4x4 will handle it with ease. Tight in a few spots but not bad.

We turned around at Three Basins trail. Started to snow and was pretty wet. Since we were alone and had never been here we decided to turn around.
