Trail Overview

This is a popular and scenic OHV route running north of Florissant on the south side of the trail and ending near Westcreek on the north side. It offers scenic views, particularly on the northern section of the road. There are plenty of offroad trails that shoot off from this one for the opportunity to explore. The south half of the trail is an easier section as it grows more difficult on the north half due to rutted and washed-out roads. It is mostly smooth gravel with larger dips and humps. There is not much wash boarding on the road and it does not contain much rock.

Difficulty

The difficulty is primarily due to rutted and uneven roads with loose gravel and large washed-out sections. With proper tire placement, it is doable in most stock 4x4 vehicles. The north entrance has a sign stating the road is for high-clearance 4x4 vehicles.

History

Much of the trail is through the old Hayman Fire burn area.

This was one of the most scenic trails I've been on, especially for being just about 2hrs from the Denver area. I did a quick 24hr/overnight trip here and found an amazing dispersed camping spot on Predator Rd (895), but there were many to choose from, with amazing views. Pretty much this entire road (Cedar Mtn) is very easy and can be done in any stock vehicle, no problem. If you're looking for a road to explore that isn't challenging but with amazing beauty, this is one for sure! And, of course, this is the road to Metberry and Hackett Gulch if you're looking for something a bit more challenging.

Seems like the road must have been grated recently. Really no obstacles of any kind. Still beautiful and fun, but only has some large waves and some narrow sections

The last time I ran this road was three years ago, and the description in the app was accurate. Today, ran it north to south. The entire road has been bladed after last falls epic rains, the north end is currently a graded dirt road, evem the fun hill climb 2/10, the south end has some soft sections that will give big ADV bikes some short section of "sand" type conditions, 2.5/10.

Trail was in pretty good condition. Not very technical unless you take some of the out and backs off the main trail. Got pretty narrow for the Braptor on some of the out and backs. Nice trail with beautiful scenery.

Kindof muddy in some spots with red mud. Nice to have an option of a more challenging side of the trail, or you can take the easy almost always flat side of the trail.

Lots of ice and mud, plus some washed out spots and some deep ruts. Passable, but expect to navigate some slick ice and deep mud.

There are several washed out places along the way, passable in a high clearance 4x4 but was impassible to us in a mazda. Around the 10 mile mark there is a big washout that was probably 3 feet deep. We had to turn around there.
