683 Fern Trail

The Fern Single Track is an intermediate dirt bike trail in Rampart Range with some more challenging rock obstacles. It's 1 mile long and makes a loop with the Overlook ATV Trail, which is also how you access this trail. Most of the trail is intermediate difficulty, with lots of curvy and shelfy spots. Riding clockwise, it drops down through the forest to cross a ravine, then climbs back up some rocky ledges. There are lots of ruts to watch out for when riding above the ravine. On the way back up, there is a tricky rock pinch you have to go up and over that is almost guaranteed to get your pegs and handlebars wedged at the same time between two huge boulders. The most obvious line gets you sucked in between the boulders. It continues with several rock ledges that are easy to get hung up on. This one is a fun challenge.
