Trail Overview
Branching directly off Henness Pass Road, Forest Service Road 34-013—also known as Twin Quartz—operates as a wide, single-track dirt connector trail navigating through National Forest lands. The route winds through a vibrant, densely wooded evergreen canopy, featuring tall, mature pines and a thick woodland understory that provides near-constant shade. Holding an exceptionally easy difficulty rating of 1, the packed reddish-dirt surface is incredibly well-groomed and flat throughout the entire journey. Travelers frequently utilize this scenic corridor to link up with additional secondary spurs or to reach a quiet, dispersed campsite tucked along the tree line that comfortably accommodates a couple of vehicles. The smooth, easygoing route eventually concludes at a major intersection, providing further backcountry throughput onto FS 34 and other adjoining forest paths.

The wide dirt roadbed is highly consolidated, meaning drivers will not have to negotiate any deep ruts, off-camber washouts, or embedded rocks. Because the corridor is generously cleared with ample shoulders, there are no concerns regarding encroaching brush scraping the sides of the vehicle. The trail provides an entirely stress-free transit with plenty of room to pass or turn around at the dispersed camp clearings, ensuring a relaxing journey without ever threatening undercarriage clearance.
