Definitely worth the trip to drive into the mine. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is necessary to reach the mine. A bone stock Wrangler on 32” or 33” would have no problem navigating the trail. You will encounter some 12” rocks, just pick a good line and you’ll be okay. A spotter would help.

The road in to get to the actual mine trail is typical fire road mixed with paved areas as you move over the old airfields as well as some washboard. The mine trail itself only has a handful of spots that require some technical knowledge/ ability. My Jeep 2.5” lift with 35’s had no issue at all. Father in law had to work a little harder in a stock 25’ Tacoma Sport 4WD with slightly upgraded AT tires. We got him up with no problem with proper tire placement and line choice. We drove into the mine without any clearance issues.

I went halfway in a stock Subaru before deciding I wasn't having fun and pulling over to walk the rest. Rocky climb up to the mine. I could have made it 80% of the way, then there is a gatekeeper rock garden obstacle with small boulders. A vehicle with high clearance and big tires is required, something that can climb ~1 foot rocks. Photo included. The mine is big enough for a single vehicle to fit inside and there were tire tracks going in. I walked about 30 feet in. If you are going to attempt this in a stock car/SUV/truck, bring a spare and a spotter. Good line choice can get you 80% of the way there.

Trail has some rock gardens with a few large rocks scattered throughout. Either you've got the clearance, stacks some rocks and/or use careful tire placement, or you're comfortable with scraping the skid plates a time or two. Road is a little tight but there are a few spots to move over. Pin striping risk level 0 unless you make a really bad mistake.

I dont think this trail is not rated at a 4. It's a 2 at best With some clearance and big tires you should be able to make it through. Can't go through the cave with my 3" lifted JK on 35" tires and a roof top tent. But was a nice a little off roading trail to kick the rocks and spend some quality time with your family.

Pretty fun little adventure. Road getting in is covered in washboard then the main road coming up into the mine is pretty rocky but fairly easy in a semi lifted vehicle. The mine shaft itself is about 10-12 foot wide, 7ish or so feet tall. We were able to drive our truck all the way in about a 1/4 mile.

Dusty and rocky. I didn't air down, though it would have been more comfortable if I had. You are going to want high clearance and 4x4, especially if you head off the main road at all. My car is on 31s, and I didnt struggle to roll over anything, but I do have 14" of clearance.

Loose rock, sand, dusty, the last 100-200 yards to the mine entrance is steeper and very rocky, large rocks embedded in the road mixed with loose baby head sized rocks. Was an easy climb on my 690, a larger adventure bike could be more challenging. High clearance 4wd vehicles would be a requirement. The mine was awesome.

I went up in my 2018 GMC Sierra with 4x2, I do have a 4.5 inch lift with 35 inch tires so that did help a lot. Also I went up on the second of January; it won't let me date this that far back. It was pretty easy, I would say that 4x4 is not necessary but the clearance definitely is.

Trail conditions were good only gets rocky towards the end . I aired down after a couple big rocks and it helped alot . Got to drive in with my rebel i still have the air suspension so i put it in areo mode and was able to drive in only till about the first spot that your able to turn around at i couldnt go in more. Real cool short trail definitely worth it!

Washboard road from the turn off at 395 all the way to where the rocky section begins. Some sandy patches but nothing too deep. There were some cows grazing along the edge of the road, so slow down for them! Section right before the mine entrance is rocky and somewhat steep. 4x4 with high clearance recommended. Mine entrance has a low ceiling but opens up once you pass that low point. Drove a stock Bronco with Sasquatch package, no clearance issues to report. Definitely a fun side trip if in the area!

This is a great experience and an easy adventure. Any stock 4x4 can make it up to the mine entrance.
