Trail Overview

Sunday Peak Trail is a short out-and-back departing from Portuguese Meadow Road into a beautiful and remote corner of Sequoia National Forest near Sunday Peak. The trail runs along a shelf road through pine trees, with the heavy aftermath of the 2021 French Fire visible in the form of numerous burned and dead trees throughout. A separate non-motorized hiking trail provides access to the summit of Sunday Peak for those looking to stretch their legs at the end of the drive.

Difficulty

Wet spots and drainage humps are the primary obstacles on the otherwise smooth, hard-packed dirt surface. The shelf road character warrants steady attention throughout.
