Trail Overview
Sawmill Lake Trail begins with a gentle climb from the Faucherie Lake Trail. As you crest the first hill, you'll catch your first glimpse of Sawmill Lake. There are campsites on the lakeside of the trail just after the crest, making them a good choice for those with stock rigs. As you continue, the trail descends over 12-inch rocks to reach the dam. Note that this is an out-and-back trail, so you'll need to climb back up this section. At the dam, there are a few additional campsites, but these fill up quickly. The trail is short, starting off easy and progressively getting more challenging. If all campsites are occupied, return to the Faucherie Lake Trail and continue toward Faucherie Lake, keeping an eye on your right for many more camping spots.

Difficulty
The trail starts with nothing harder than what you have already done to get to the trail head; however, as you continue down towards the dam, the trail gets tougher with 12-inch rocks. Remember, you need to climb back up if you decide to go all the way to the dam.
