Trail Overview
Rowdy Cow is a scenic 3.5-mile dirt trail in Stanislaus National Forest, ideal for beginners and stock high-clearance or 4x4 vehicles. Starting near Highway 120, the route climbs from 5,200 to 5,570 feet, offering sunset views of the Sierra Nevada foothills. The dirt surface has minor obstacles like shallow ruts, loose rocks, and narrow sections with encroaching brush.
Rated 2 out of 10, the trail is easy but requires caution during spring runoff, when water crossings can reach a foot deep, or during winter snow. A small truck or SUV is ideal. Four-wheel drive is recommended but not required in dry conditions.
