Trail Overview
This is an easy, fast, and extremely short 0.5-mile high elevation connector trail between Redpole Spur and Red Lakes Road designed to link the high-country spurs efficiently. Although named a "loop," the trail functions primarily as a straight two-track access spur that provides excellent options for flat and level dispersed camping along its short length. The route is situated in a mixed-severity 2020 Creek Wildfire burn scar (visible in photos), granting open views and requiring constant awareness of the surrounding snags. The surface is mostly smooth, packed dirt, but a few short, rocky sections require proper tire placement to maintain speed and comfort.
Difficulty
Rated 3 (The Short Steep Bit): This trail requires high clearance, but no Four Wheel Drive engagement is strictly necessary for transit. The R3 rating is assigned due to the occasional short, steep, and loose rocky climb (visible in photos) that briefly demands momentum and high clearance to prevent bottoming out. This is a stress-free connector that is easily handled by any capable 4x4 vehicle.
