Trail Overview
Rancheria Road South (FS 25S15), beginning at Evans Flat Campground and running south through Sequoia National Forest. As one of the primary north-to-south arteries in the area, it is well-maintained and provides access to numerous trails throughout the network. The route is lined with large pine and oak trees and runs along a shelf road for most of its length, with views of canyons and valleys on both sides. Cattle graze the area on open range and are frequently encountered on and near the road. This is a street-legal trail, no green sticker vehicles.
Difficulty
The wide, well-maintained, hard-packed dirt surface keeps this accessible to street-legal vehicles of most sizes. The shelf road character with canyon views on both sides warrants steady attention, particularly when encountering oncoming traffic or livestock on the road. No significant technical obstacles are present under dry conditions.
