Trail Overview

Pumice Lupine (FS 1S08) is a 1.5-mile point-to-point trail climbing over 200 feet. The trail starts at the Baldwin Mountain Road and 120 Cutoff FS1S06 junction and ends at Pumice Mine Road (FS 1S40). The surface is sand and pumice, one vehicle wide, and cuts through a young pine forest. Halfway along, the trail opens into a large meadow. The route offers expansive views of the Eastern Sierra Mountains. Seasonal fire restrictions apply. The west side starts in a very large meadow.

Difficulty

The trail features numerous whoops and washboards from heavy side-by-side use. Some sections of sand are deeper, requiring careful throttle control. Overgrown branches along the trail may contact taller or wider vehicles. Dusty conditions can reduce visibility.
