Trail Overview

The trail runs along a power line through a small canyon lined with thick brush and other trees, with some small pine trees dotting the hills above. This trail is made of pumice, creating a very dusty trail when dry that kicks up fine volcanic powder. Immediately, there are small ruts due to water runoff cutting across the pumice surface. The trail is one and a half vehicles wide, providing moderate room for maneuvering. There are signs of previous forest fire in the area, visible in the burned tree stands and recovering vegetation. Some off-camber sections feature deeper ruts and whoops that test suspension articulation and require careful line selection. Short sections where you're crossing over some deep roots create clearance challenges and demand attention to wheel placement.

Difficulty

This trail has a moderate difficulty rating (3) based on the 215 feet of elevation gain over just over a mile, pumice surface that is very dusty when dry, small ruts from water runoff throughout, off-camber sections with deeper ruts and whoops, one and a half vehicle width requiring precision, and short sections with deep roots creating clearance obstacles. The primary challenges include maintaining traction on the loose pumice surface during the steady climb, navigating off-camber sections with deeper ruts without sliding, managing the dust for visibility when dry, and clearing deep roots in short sections without undercarriage damage, making high clearance and 4x4 highly recommended for safe passage.
