Trail Overview
Pauley Creek - FS 93-003, a wonderfully scenic and remarkably smooth journey that is perfect for a relaxing day out in the woods. This beautiful, wide gravel road winds its way comfortably through a lovely, medium-density pine forest, offering plenty of dappled shade along the route. As you cruise along the well-maintained surface, the tree line occasionally opens up to reveal spectacular, sweeping views of the lush valley below and a fantastic, unobstructed viewpoint of the majestic Sierra Buttes. Along the way, you will encounter a rustic livestock corral and brief transitions between loose dirt, crushed gravel, and heavily compacted, almost paved-feeling segments. It is a peaceful, meandering drive with minimal elevation changes, making it a stress-free outdoor adventure where you can truly focus on enjoying the stunning natural surroundings.
Difficulty
The road features a generally flat profile with no significant, steep elevation gains or sharp descents to worry about. The primary surface is well-graded gravel, allowing for comfortable, smooth sailing. Your only real obstacles will be a handful of mild ruts carved out by water washouts and a few scattered, small embedded rocks. Simply keep your eyes peeled to straddle these minor washouts, maintain a relaxed speed, and you will have an incredibly easy, bump-free journey from start to finish without needing high ground clearance.
