Trail Overview

The Palomar Divide is an easy drive with beautiful views. It is a single lane with pull-offs throughout. The majority of the trail is dirt, however, it has some old paved sections in the lower elevation portion. During the rain or snow seasons, one can expect slick conditions and should proceed with caution.

Easy trail and not too rutted out. Any high clearance vehicle should have no problems. Came in from the north off of Palomar mountain trail and continued through this trail.

Pretty slow first half, long stretches of single lane. Only saw one vehicle coming opposite. Could get messy with more traffic. My first long off-road trip. Best to do buddy system, got nervous of possible problem.

Definitely a narrow trail for a good portion of it and is an easy way to get some pinstripes if not careful. Went in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday and ran into 3 solo drivers 2 motorcycles all in good spots to pass and ran into a group of 20 cars on my way up in a narrow section so had to back down a ways away to make room for everyone but overall an easy trail, super dusty once you get off the pavement

This was my first offroad trail. Great scenic views! Did 4H. Aired down to 25 PSI. Stock suspension with 33" KO3 tires, ground clearance was good. Overall, awesome first time!

Anyone have any intel on when trail will open or why closed still? I’ve tried multiple times to get ahold of Palomar Ranger District station for an update but no answer or call back.

Nice gorgeous views. Pretty smooth as a whole on 9S07 (Palomar Divide Road). No locked gates at all.

Did the entire 21 miles. Gate at the top for lookout tower was closed sadly. 9S07 does have nicer views than 8S05, but half of it is mostly broken pavement. 8S05 is all dirt, still easy, but more of a typical off road trail. Overall easy, with some areas to do donuts and pick up speed.
