Trail Overview

This trail winds its way through the Cleveland Forest from Pamo Road to the Guejito Truck Trail. The trail is not very well maintained. It is very rutted. The trail takes you up and over some good hills in Pamo Valley. Parts of the trail are very scenic and beautiful.

Difficulty

Starting from Pamo Rd, the first mile is pretty rutted out with several dry ruts across the trail. This trail could become very difficult during or after rain. Traction is not a problem when dry. All of the up and down hills are mild. Most sections of the trail are a narrow 2-track.About 3 miles from the trailhead, you will be making a sharp turn to the right, almost a U-turn. The trail will continue to the left. But, if you want to stay on Orosco Ridge, take the trail to the hard right. Picture of the turn included below.

Easy trail but be sure to turn around and go back once you reach the end of the charted Orosco trail. The gate blocking Guejito Truck Trail has been removed at some point in the last year so nothing is stopping you from spilling onto a heavily water eroded, umaintained trail. That trail is closed on one end by Hwy 78 due to boulders falling over the trail so it isn’t maintained for vehicle traffic.

Took the Prius out on Saturday (2wd), lots of people walking the trail, but we didn’t come across any other vehicles. Bottomed out several times along the trail, especially on some of the rocky features. Unfortunately, the trail didn’t go all the way through as there was a closed gate at the end.

Nice morning ride, heat started coming up. The trail was in good shape, some rutts and possible pinstriping.

Open and 100% dried out after the rain. Big rain ruts so be careful if you’re on a bike.

Open but a bit rough, small but annoying ruts from the rain. Had a blast though, didn’t see anyone else.

Nice, easy trail. A little bit rutted from recent rains but nothing even a slightly lifted vehicle couldn’t manage. We did the whole route in 2WD.
