Trail Overview
Ole Cease Cutoff (FS 1S45) branches off Logging Camp Road and winds through dense stands of pine forest typical of the Inyo National Forest. The route begins on a gentle grade with soft pumice and sandy sections under tall trees, creating a shaded and enclosed feel. As you climb higher, the track narrows and the forest canopy thickens, giving the upper section a more remote, almost overgrown character. This short out-and-back trail is a good choice for those wanting a quick woodland drive and a bit of mild exploration. It has a sandy pumice base with sections of loose soil and scattered ruts. The surface can vary with recent weather or grading.
Difficulty
Rated a 2, this trail features ruts up to 12 inches deep, occasional soft sand, and several overgrown sections where branches may brush taller vehicles. The upper portion of the route becomes narrower and less defined, requiring careful navigation to stay on track. Moderate clearance and 4WD are recommended.
