Branching directly off of Forest Highway M3, North Bowery Loop - FS 18N28 is a gentle 2.7-mile forest route offering convenient access into the high country. Set across an open ridge environment recovering from the 2018 Ranch Fire within the Mendocino National Forest, the landscape features regrowing manzanita brush, young pines, and standing timber snags that open up expansive panoramas over surrounding mountain valleys. Recreators and campers frequently utilize this path to access a prime primitive dispersed campsite located right near the entrance or to enjoy a quiet, scenic detour off the main thoroughfare. The road surface consists of a wide single-lane dirt track that transitions smoothly into firm crushed gravel. Navigating this 2.7-mile loop is completely straightforward as it winds along gentle contours, offering clear sightlines and easy maneuvering throughout its length.
