Trail Overview
This 1.24-mile dirt Forest Service road is a delightful, scenic connector that branches directly off the main Beasore Road (FS 5S07). For the most part, it’s a smooth, sandy dirt road that allows for a relaxed pace, winding through a beautiful, healthy forest that largely escaped the severe burns seen elsewhere in the region. The trail’s character is defined by its playful weave between massive granite boulders and towering pines. While generally easy, the route gets a bit tight at several points where the track threads the needle between these natural obstacles, requiring a bit of spatial awareness. It also features some photogenic sections of bucked logs and recovering undergrowth. Nearby is a fantastic meadow campsite, making this a prime destination for dispersed camping.
Difficulty
The trail surface is consistently easy, featuring smooth, sandy dirt with minimal erosion or large rocks in the tread itself. The rating holds at a 2 because, despite the smooth surface, the trail requires careful maneuvering around large, abrasive granite boulders and through narrow tree gates. There are no technical 4x4 obstacles, but the tightness prevents it from being a mindless cruise. Any high-clearance vehicle can handle it easily, provided the driver pays attention to the width.
