Trail Overview
Maxey Ranch Road Spur is a short, easy 0.7-mile Green Circle connector in the Hungry Valley SVRA. It runs from paved Gold Hill Road over to Maxey Ranch Road across flat, lightly rolling desert with smooth sand and dirt the whole way. There are no rocks or obstacles, so a stock 4x4 or even a two-wheel-drive truck on all-terrain tires handles it fine, with traction only getting tricky if the sand is soft or wet. It intersects Meadows Trail and Schmidt Ranch Trail, and the wide, open sightlines make it easy to navigate and a good warm-up for beginners or casual riders.
Difficulty
Rated Green Circle, Level 2, this short connector is about as easy as it gets. The surface is smooth sand and dirt with no rocks, ledges, or major obstacles, and the terrain stays mostly flat with only light rolling. 4x4 is recommended but not required, and a two-wheel-drive truck on all-terrain tires should be fine. Traction is reliable unless the sand turns soft or conditions are wet. It is ideal for beginners or casual off-roaders.
